Title: WorkLife with Adam Grant: A TED original Podcast

Author: Adam Grant. Does his name look familiar? It’s because we reviewed his book Think Againhere. But Adam Grant is going to get two blogs, because he really is just that good.

What is it? A podcast, produced by TED, which prides itself on spreading ideas worth sharing.

Who should listen to it? Anyone who feels like they are struggling to find a sense of work/life balance. In the podcast, Grant speaks with all different kinds of professionals to try to understand how they (and you!) can better integrate work life and personal life.

Two minute skinny: Grant’s personable style and down to earth approach combined with his interest in how organizations function and the psychology of the modern world make this podcast both accessible and fascinating. Grant reminds us that if we are going to spend a quarter of our life either working or in the workplace, we might as well find a way to not hate it. His podcast explores every aspect of the work environment, from why meetings are ineffective to how to find true happiness in your vocation. With six full seasons of thoughtful interviews with all types of experts and insights, there is certainly something for every working adult to learn from in these episodes. While every specific episode may not speak to you, there is certainly a wide breadth to choose from, and we challenge you to listen to at least one and set the intention to make a small change or improvement to your own work routines this year!

Rating? Worth the Investment? There are a lot of podcasts in the world to choose from, but this one certainly has at least a few episodes for each of you. We give it a 10/10 for being versatile, practical, and applicable.

Listen, I don’t have time for podcasts… What’s second best? If you don’t feel you have time to listen to a full episode but still want to check this topic out, you can find the transcript that goes with each episode on the TEDx website for the podcast and skim over ones that sound interesting.

And in case you wanted to go deeper: If you really like Grant’s style and information, he has quite a trove of resources you can explore. He has published several books, including his newest book, Hidden Potential: The Science of Achieving Greater Things or one of his other seven books, including one he co-wrote with Cheryl Sandberg of Facebook and Lean In fame. He also has another podcast called ReThinking, which has three seasons and goes deeper into the themes of his book, Think Again.
